Business Development Lead – Rotterdam area

My client, is an energy tech & disruptive scale up, making a sustainable impact on heating networks across Europe & has the ambition to act and operate globally. My client offers a SaaS solution to create digital twins of heating networks. The solution/service is powered by AI and analytics,  to optimize temperatures, pressures and other metrics, therefor minimizing energy usage, CO2 emissions and operating costs.
My client is backed by top investors and consists of 25 people, consisting of Consulting Alumni, AI, Data Scientists & Energy Specialists.

As the Business Development Lead, you will;
  • help to build a network of highly motivated and engaged customers in the EMEA region;
  • manage sales cycles, close deals and your input on product development is highly appreciated;
  • you will be interacting closely with the team to maximize the impact on their client’s challenges, from Operational management to C-level;  
  • work together with clients from the biggest energy companies in Europe (and beyond);
  • understand the challenges and optimization opportunities of the clients;
  • build an independent network in EMEA;
  • proactively look for new opportunities with existing and new accounts together with the sales and marketing team;
  • build relationships with federations and other heating network related parties;
  • collaborate on a technical and commercial level together with other team members;
  • identify leads to existing and new customers;
  • ensure follow-up of these leads;
  • draw up business plans;
  • independently provide product demonstrations and presentations;
  • help to improve my clients’ proposition, service offering and scalable operations;
  • represent the voice of the customer when and co- build new product features
  • become part of a mission to make the world more sustainable by reducing losses in the largest and most relevant energy form, also called ‘heating’;
  • join a very ambitious scale-up that just raised series A from an international consortium of investors in the sustainable energy industry;
  • build your own set of new clients and keep current customers fully engaged, by working alongside them solving their complex challenges.
 The ideal candidate has;
  • several years (8+) of ‘solution selling’ experience;
  • experience in Technology/Enterprise Software in the B2B space;
  • a BSc or MSc, preferably in a field of engineering or technical business administration with a commercial focus;
  • a proven sales track record in an international environment;
  • experience with tenders and RFP’s;
  • excellent communication skills; allowing you to bridge the gap between Sales / Clients and Operations/AI team;
  • affinity and experience with one or more of the following topics: energy / utilities /  industrials / analytics/ IoT / AI;
  • willingness to travel internationally;
  • knowledge of a 3rd or 4th language next to English and Dutch;
  • a strong sense of ownership and intrinsic drive;
  • a proactive and pragmatic mentality;
  • strong client engagement capabilities.
